El concepto del la profecía autocumplida del gran sociólogo Robert K. Merton puede verse en el “Teorema de Thomas”, el que expresa que “si la gente define ciertas situaciones como reales, son reales en sus consecuencias”.
Hay una gran cantidad de especulaciones salvajes y sin fundamento, escritas en blogs de Internet, o difundidas por los medios de comunicación amarillistas, sobre la supuesta muerte accidental de Madeleine McCann, y la ocultación de su cadáver por parte de sus padres, Gerry y Kate McCann, con o sin la ayuda de sus siete amigos, con quienes pasaban las vacaciones.
La lectura del expediente del caso, donde figuran los testimonios, las pruebas periciales, las llamadas a los teléfonos móviles, etcétera, muestran la altísima improbabilidad de esas especulaciones sin fundamento. Una única conclusión se impone: Madeleine fue raptada por alguien ajeno al grupo de 9 amigos, y podría estar viva.
