Es importante notar que está conclusión se basó en el expediente completo de la investigación, que duró más de 14 meses. Expediente completo al que Gonçalo Amaral no tuvo acceso, ya que fue separado de la investigación al cumplirse 5 meses del hecho. En la página 4649 de la conclusión se lee: "Se determina [...] el archivamiento de las actuaciones con respecto a los arguidos Gerald Patrick McCann y Kate Marie Healy [los padres de Madeleine], por no existir indicios de que los mismos hayan cometido algún crimen en los términos del artículo 277º nº 1 del CPP".

To verify this, it is sufficient to read the conclusion reached at the original research (it's in Portuguese, but his reading is understandable for any Spanish person).
